Introduction to Woodcut Day
We will be following Covid guidelines to safely offer our first one day course. Places will limited to 4 so you benefit from more space and individual tuition.
Woodcut is a relief printmaking technique which uses the side grain of the wood, allowing for larger scale work with an expressive and expansive range of marks. Working with hand carving tools, the printmaker removes material from the surface of the wood block to create negative areas, a roller is used to ink the surface of the block, areas that have been cut away remain clear of ink. Printmaking paper is laid onto the surface of the inked block before it is taken through the press to leave the impression of the positive image.
Jo Morley will be the tutor, Jo is a printmaker, teacher and painter. She also runs our linocut and collagraph courses too.
