Drypoint Day
Drypoint Day | Saturday 23 October 2021 |10 am to 5 pm
Drypoint is a simple and direct technique allowing for the creation of strong expressive mark making. It involves scratching, gouging or engraving directly into the plate surface with a needle or other tool to raise a burr. This burr is what creates the strong and distinct velvety appearance of drypoint prints.
The emphasis in this workshop will be on experimentation and mark making. Using traditional scrapers and drypoint needles along with more innovative approaches to creating marks; and working across aluminium and plastic substrates, you will create a small set of plates of varying size and shape that explore tone, texture and mark making. Suitable for beginners and more experienced printmakers.
