We will be following Covid guidelines to safely offer this one day course. Places will limited to 4 so you benefit from more space and individual tuition. Andy Reaney is one of our talented tutors and will be teaching this one-day course which will introduce aquatint, an etching process which enables the printmaker to create wide ranging and experimental tonal marks, forms and effects in the printed outcome; from very subtle to rich dark tones.
Working with copper plates, students will be introduced to the technique and processes of tonal etching using the traditional aquatint method – learning to lay and fix aquatint to the plate before stage biting in an acid mordant to build up a tonal image. Following plate preparation, etching and proofing, images may be developed further using drypoint and burnishing. Working with black and coloured ink, students will create their own small edition of prints.
