Bearspace Print & Design Now!

Fresh from its overwhelming success at the London Art Fair in January, 2010, BEARSPACE reprises PRINT & DESIGN NOW! for 2011, an innovative open submission exhibition of over 200 works by emerging artist and designers based on the concept of PRINT & DESIGN as a medium and a repetitive process.

PRINT & DESIGN NOW! is an excellent opportunity for artists and designers to submit their limited edition prints and design objects to a top selection panel to be selected for a groundbreaking exhibition of over 200 works of art. PRINT & DESIGN NOW! will initially show at the SW1 Gallery, a great space in the heart of Belgravia, London, then going on to tour to venues in London and the UK, including BEARSPACE and Art Fairs in 2011-12.

Artists & designers will be selected by a panel of curators and writers who are specifically concerned with emerging art, including Julia Alvarez, Director of BEARSPACE, Clare & Harry Page, from design duo ‘Committee and Mary Alice Stack, Director of the Art Council’s Own Art Scheme.

All works should be contained within the broad fields on print & design, and be an edition or multiple of 5.  This exhibition seeks to be as broad as possible in looking at artwork as a repetitive process, so the mediums of photography, etching, moulding, printing, casting are accepted as well as individually hand finished pieces as long as they can be classified in an edition.

To apply please visit: Print & Design Now! or email Bearspace for further details.

HerStory by Women’s Work

This, the 15th annual exhibition organised and curated by the North Hampshire group Women’s Work, will include a broad range of art by women that demonstrates narrative through its content and method. Rather than use the title as in its feminist roots, here they broaden it to show the thematic and technical breadth when things are told from a woman’s point of view.

HerStory by Women’s Work runs from Wednesday 8th June to Friday 8th July 2011 at The Link Gallery, West Downs Centre, Winchester. For more details email visualart@winchester.ac.uk Join us for a private view Friday 10th June 2011 6-8.30pm.

Dye Sublimation Day

A wonderful time was spent by all on Suzie Brown’s brilliant textile day. The class worked on a range of ideas, creating images with vibrant colours onto fabrics. We’re looking forward to Suzie’s second Foil and Flock weekend on August 13/14 and remember you can see all the images from her recent workshop at Badger Press Flickr site. There are still a few places, so book quickly.
