About
The Badger Press is an open access printmaking studio established by Michael Griffiths in 1982. Staffed by volunteers and visiting lecturers, the press is run by Badger Arts CIC, a Community Interest Company and social enterprise, with all profits re-invested to provide stock, equipment and maintenance for its users.
We want to provide artist facilities, workshop space and an education programme to the community; enhance and promote arts activity within Hampshire, and to support artists working in the area through tuition, advice and guidance. We wish to provide expertise in fine art printmaking and encourage the practice to further ensure this knowledge is secured as part of our cultural heritage.
The spacious and well equipped studio has facilities for artists to produce prints in many media, including etchings, relief prints, solar plates and screen prints. Printmaking services and activities offered include:
Practical courses and workshops
Studio Hire for experienced printmakers
Sales of printmaking materials
Staff development for educational institutions
Consultancy services
Recently the Badger Press has been in the forefront of research in the UK into photopolymer (solar plate) printmaking. Specialist courses are offered in the new, non-toxic medium and the Badger Press supplies plates by mail order.
The studio has easy access and ample parking. It is located a few minutes walk from the centre of the historic market town of Bishops Waltham, near Winchester in Hampshire.
